Friday...still in Montreal

Ok, it's the last day of our adventure. The whole reason we went on this little trip is because we are in the Montreal temple district, and we were getting a little lonesome for the temple, since we hadn't been since we got married. Anyways, Montreal is an island, and it's surrounded by the St. Lawrence river. The temple isn't actually in Montreal, it's in another city that I can't quite remember the name of...Anyways, we figured it would take close to an hour and a half to make it from our hotel to the temple for the 9 am session. So, that puts us leaving the hotel at 7, because we have to have time to change and everything like that. So, that puts us getting up at 6 am. . . again, I thought we were supposed to be able to sleep in on vacation!!! Anyways, so I had packed most everything up on Thursday night while Aaron was doing homework, so at least that part was done. So we're really tired, and it was very hard to get out of bed! We finally did though, and headed out the door to the bus stop. As we were walking, we were like 10 feet (I'm not joking) away from the bus, the bus driver looks at us and closes the door and drives away. Ok....guess we'll get on the next bus!! Thanks heavens they run pretty frequently!! We only had to wait about 10 minutes before the next one came along. Apparently everyone had to work at the same time, because there were so many people on the bus!!! It was CRAZY!!! There seriously had to have been 75+ people on this bus. By the way, french bus drivers are MEAN!! Pretty much the french in general are mean... (my apologies to anyone who likes the french, or who is french)...but they were all in such a huge hurry!! We were getting on the metro, and Aaron was ahead of me and he just flashed his tourist card and went right through the little gate. I did the same thing and the mean french man in the ticket booth wouldn't let me go through, and he kept yelling at me in french. I didn't know what to do, so I just held up my tourist card in front of his face until he finally let me through...meany pants. So we get on the right line, the one that goes under water. It was pretty cool, we had to go down a bunch of stairs to get deep enough, and you could totally tell when we were underwater because it got really cold. Pretty cool! Anyways, we got to the bus stop and Aaron figured out that we need to actually pay money for this bus, because it's not in Montreal so they won't use our metro/bus passes. Darn. Good job Aaron for figuring it out! So we wait for about 20 minutes for the bus to come along, and then we're on our merry way. There were people actually speaking english on this bus!! Woohoo!!! Most everyone got off at the same stop, there was only like 3 or 4 people on the bus besides us. We weren't sure what stop to get off, so Aaron was watching and saw the Angel Moroni...what a great sight!!! We got off and rushed to the temple to try and make it for the 9am session. It was like 8:55 at this point....so we get in the temple and they held the session for us, but it was in french, so we had to use the headphones. I listened to it in english, and Aaron listened to it in Spanish. It was very fun, and our bishop and his wife were there in the same session. That was really nice, because our bags hitched a ride back with them so we didn't have to trudge around with them all day!!! This is the only picture of us together on the whole trip, and we had the bishop take it so we would have proof that we actually went together!!!

It was a really SMALL temple...the stake center that it shares a parking lot with was bigger! Anyways, we went back to Montreal and wandered around for a while. We stopped at this little eatery and had lunch, then started walking...and walking...and walking. We walked about another 4 or 5 miles before we went back to the bus to head back home. We were both pretty tired on the way home, so Aaron slept really well, but I couldn't, so I just listened in on some people's conversations! Here are a few of the things that we saw Friday while walking around. Mostly churches, but there are a few other things!

Look, people all over the world worship Jacque!!!

This is the oldest Russian Orthodox Catholic church in the Montreal area.

This was just a cool statue in one of the parks we walked by.

This is inside one of the cathedrals that we went into.

This is us on the bus headed back home.

This is just another church that we saw. They were everywhere!!! It was a really fun trip, we are both glad that we took it, but we were both happy to be home in our little apartment!!! There are more pictures on our flikr website if you want to look at them!!!
