Ok, so this morning I had a dentist’s appointment scheduled for an exam and a cleaning. The exam was for 8:30 am, and the cleaning was at 9:15 am. I get there at 8:25, sign in, and wait. And wait. And wait. Finally this toad of a lady calls my name and takes me in the back. She points to the chair and says “sit there”, and walks out of the room. Huh? She walks in a few minutes later to take x-rays of 3 teeth. She jams the thing in my mouth that doesn’t really fit, because my mouth is small and the x-ray is huge, and says “bite down”. I’m already biting down as far as I can without the x-ray cutting into the top of my mouth. She looks at me again and says “bite down the real way, you’re doing this wrong”. Yeah, because I’ve never been to the dentist before? So she takes the x-rays, says “it takes 10 minutes to develop and the dr. will be in then”. That was at 8:55 am. At 9:35 the dr. finally walks in. Remember the cleaning scheduled at 9:15? Well, I’m late for it. So the dr. says “you need 3 root canals, it will cost $xxx, when should we schedule it?” I know that they think I need root canals. I’ve known that for 6 months from the last time I was there. I went for the express purpose of finding out what else I can do besides that, and he wouldn’t even let me talk. Grrr. So then the hygienist who was supposed to clean my teeth walks in. She says “you had an appointment at 9:15. It’s a 45 minute appointment, and you have 20 minutes left. I can’t help that the dr. was late, so you either get a 20 minute cleaning, or you have to reschedule”. I have to work, which is why I scheduled it for today, because I knew I could come in later and be ok. Grrr. So I didn’t reschedule anything, and I don’t think I’m going back. Dumb Dr.! I don’t think I’ll be going back there again! I guess on the upside I got to work an hour before I thought I would…that’s always good, right?

Oh poor thing! I have always loved the dentist (maybe because I've always been related to mine), and I never understood why people just don't like to go.
Hearing stories like yours make me so frustrated! I think that sometimes doctors and dentists think that because they are the "authorities" they have a right to take their sweet time and do and say whatever they want without thinking about the needs of their patient!!!! I am going to have to talk to Justin about this to make sure he avoids it!
