Guess who got called to Jury Duty??

Well it wasn't my wife.....it was me. My mom called me the other night and said that I had received a summons in the mail. I had her open it up and sure enough, I have been selected to serve on a jury on April 28th! Oh wait....um....yeah....something about being 2600 miles away and taking finals during that time for school....don't think I will be serving. So I called the jury office to explain (I'm sure that they get all sorts of requests cause the lady sounds irritated) and they ask when my summer break is which I explain and then say but I am headed to Utah for an internship and maybe in Arizona for a week or two but I am not quite sure when. The lady says are you planning on becoming a Vermont resident?? Ah.....no....ah...I can't...due to state statute I explain. So she tells me to write this letter and fax it to them and she hopes I get excused.....I'm thinking to myself....she hopes??? What's next??? If I don't get excused, do you think that they will reimburse me for airfare and hotel lodging? What if a warrant is issued for my arrest? Oh boy!
