The Excitement of Finals

This last week I have been writing, studying, writing, and studying for all of my finals. So far, the results are in for 3 of my classes....I got an 'A' in White Collar Crime, a 'B' in Financial Accounting, and a 'B' in Modern American Social History. Yesterday was the last day for finals and I waited until the last minute (okay not really, but it helps the story) to start my art history final.

Now for those of you who do not know me, I have no passion for art and could really care less....but I had to (YES, I had to) take a Fine Arts credit and this is what was recommended to me. Now when I took the art history mid-term it was timed test of 2 hours and we had 15 questions on different artists, what they painted, etc. I took the full two hours! It was hard and needless to say, I didn't get an 'A', but I didn't an 'F' or 'D' either, so I was happy. Now yesterday, I had to take the final. I thought I had two hours so I planned to start it early in the afternoon....well I started around 4 (because I had to study for it) and then was surprised to learn that I had 4 hours to take the final, but it was a lot harder! Sure, we had 15 questions, but each of those 15 questions had 6 more questions attached. Sounds like fun. So three hours later, I finished! Then I still had to post (the equivalent of going to a class) 5 more times online. These posts had to be about 200 words. Piece of cake.......

We ordered a pizza to celebrate the last day of finals and go to a friend's house to hang out while I finish. After 3 posts, we had to go home and I was going to finish the last one at the house. By now it is 11pm....the posts are due in 59 minutes. I quickly finish up one more post when all of a sudden the power goes out....now remember this is an online class....need the internet to go online....internet needs power.....I guess I forgot and told Savannah that I would just post my last post. Savannah says Aaron, we have no power, the internet is out........hmmmmmm.....wait a minute......huh, we have a PROBLEM!!!!! It is now 11:20pm. I look outside and it is pitch black. I quickly think it is the whole town or just our block?? We see lights from the University and realize that it must be the block. I finished the last post, we jump in the car, go to Champlain (because it is far away from the power outage and I have access to their internet) and drive up to the college and I finish the post all from the car (by now it is raining, the wind is blowing around 30mph, etc). I end up posting my last post at 11:30pm and then we took a drive around the city to check out the power outage.

Sure enough, the power outage was three or four blocks long (and these are LONG blocks). We went home and headed to bed....you never know how much you use power until it is not there....but I have lots of flashlights! About 2:30 in the morning, the power comes on (we know this because the kitchen light came on) and Savannah is nudging me to go turn it off. I stumble out of bed, find the light switch and then go back to bed.....wait....Savannah is now on my side of the bed and I practically have to push/slide her over to her side so I could have a narrow piece of the bed to sleep in.

There you have it....that was our finals week. Very exciting!
