Lost in translation?

The other day while I was at work, I exchanged a series of emails with a lady from another company. I asked her a specific question, and she wouldn't give me a straight answer. Maybe she thought she was, or maybe I am a little more dense than I thought I was. Here's the emails (without any personal info on them), without any modification to her punctuation either, so you can decide who's dumber- me, or her.

Her: I still need your insurance information. We are still waiting for final approval on underwriting so we can request docs.

Me: Do you need proof of insurance before you can get underwriting approval, or just before we close?

Her: We have to have it in order to draw docs

Me: Sorry, I don't understand. Will it be necessary to provide insurance before you send everything to the title company, or can we provide that before signing?

Her: before

Me: Before what?

Her: Before we can draw docs for you to sign

Me: Ok, I'm not trying to give you a hard time, but I really don't understand what you mean when you say "before we can draw docs". Does that mean that you will be able to get underwriting approval before you have the policy, or not?

Her: We need the policy to move forward

At this point in time, I'm really frustrated, so I email her boss.

Me: I don't understand what she is trying to convey. Do you need an insurance policy before you will get approval from the underwriters today?

Him: Yes we do. :-)


FINALLY! A straight answer!!! Ugh, I was so frustrated!

Yeah, it was vague. Maybe she was distracted and was eating her lunch while she was typing her emails.
