Iceland day 4

June 8 was a great day! We started off by touring the geothermal power plant:

After the power plant we stopped by Kerid crater- normally after a cone volcano erupts it will collapse in on itself,  but this stayed in it's cone shape and filled with water. The water is naturally that blue/green color, made that way by minerals.

After the crater we hopped in the car and drove for about 5 hours to our next destination. Aaron was on camera duty since Savannah was the driver, and he did a great job capturing the scenery as we drove by!

We stopped after a few hours of driving to stretch our legs and get a good look at a glacier. Let me tell you, it is deceptively hard to take pictures of snow and ice in full daylight!

The people population of Iceland is about 350,000 while the sheep population is over 1 million! That's right, there's basically 3 sheep to every 1 person on the island.

We really slacked in documenting the places we stayed! It was in a town called Hofn (pronounced by locals as Hup), right next to the ocean. In fact, Hofn actually stands for harbor, so most towns in Iceland have a Hofn! We stayed in an airbnb house that belonged to some very nice people. Dinner was in a new restaurant (new to the owners, the building was a house that was almost 100 years old!) that was pure art. Lobster bisque, vegetarian lasagna, grilled chicken and herbs, salmon, and chocolate mousse graced our tastebuds and all of it was phenomenal. In fact, if we were to go back to Iceland we would go back to Hofn just to eat there again! The camera got left in the house so these are cell phone photos.

After a long day of driving and stuffing ourselves with delicious food, we all slept remarkably well that night.
