Anybody who knows me surely knows that I enjoy going to Costco on Saturdays and exploring every single event that is going on. Of course, this exploration is usually accompanied by my wonderful wife and lasts at least an hour, maybe more. This last Saturday was an exception. My mom needed some help doing a few things including running to Costco and also cleaning the house. Since Savannah is such a wonderful cleaner and I am such a wonderful Costco shopper we knew who was going to tackle each item. The only problem is we didn't want my mom to find out...so we convinced her that she needed to go with me to Costco (and yes we neglected to tell her why). On the way to Costco, the fantastic Department of Public Safety had closed a three mile portion of the freeway for a crime scene investigation and in fact even started to direct traffic on the westbound portion the eastbound way! My mom told me to remind her not to go that way on the way home. Once we got to Costco (and remember, my mom she had a list of about 5 items to get) I started to walk all around the store. I zigzagged to one corner then went to the other with my mom in tow. She couldn't figure out why I was pointing at random items or making a big deal about others. I knew in my head that I had to stall for an hour. About half an hour into this shopping event, I could tell that my mom was getting a little annoyed with my frantic zigzagging and weaving around so I headed for the tasting tables...I mean who doesn't enjoy tasting that stuff! I made sure that I took (maybe dragged?) my mom to each table and was pleased to point out every item which was good. At this time, my mom was getting a bit more antsy and really just wanted to go home. I still had to stall. I started to walk up and down the aisles with my mom right behind me. Finally we found the checkout line. I decided that we needed lunch and went to get some hot dogs. Now there was no one in line, but I really had to decide which one to get...(there are only two choices)...after waiting a few more minutes I knew what to get. I ordered for my mom, Savannah and me and then told my mom we should eat there. After that we headed home. It was pretty funny. Mom walked in the door and Savannah was just finishing the vacuuming. Mom told Savannah not to put away the vacuum because she needed to use it on her room and promptly started in that direction. Savannah and I just waited with baited breath to see what happened next.....Mom said "SAVANNAH!! You vacuumed my room", Savannah said yes....then we wait for her to go into her bathroom..........sure enough we heard "SAVANNAH....MY BATHROOM IS CLEAN". We both smiled and kinda chuckled. My mom came out and said thanks. Then we told her our devious plan. She laughed (I think we laughed harder) especially when I told her I was to distract her at Costco. She said "I wondered why you were taking so long. You went all over the store and I wanted to leave". All in all, I say the plan was a success!

Way to GO! I loved it! I'm just surprised that you didn't stop to see what was going on with the Crime Investigation.
