We traveled from Rochester to Kirthland to Nauvoo to West Des Moines all this last week. Both Savannah and I obviously took turns driving. Since there are toll roads across these wonderful states we try to stay on them for as long as we can. Unfortunately on one particular stretch of road, I needed a break and so took a road off of the toll road. We therefore ended up paying the toll twice. I don't like toll roads. Oh well.
It has been determined that Savannah is definitely not the picture taker in the family. She was in charge of the camera on Sunday and only took 24 pictures. Granted we didn't do anything but travel but hey you can still take pictures from the car window. Savannah had a little cold when we got to Kirtland so I went to the only open gas station at 9pm and bought all the cold medicine that they had. She now feels a lot better. We toured Kirtland for a day and then traveled to Nauvoo where we stayed for two days as well. We will post pictures later this weekend of all our travels and more stories. We have to sort through all the ones I took (over 700) this past week before I am allowed to post them. The picture czar wants to make sure that only approved pictures are posted.
On Thursday morning, we had the opportunity to do a temple session in Nauvoo and performed sealings afterwards. It was very neat. Then we traveled to Carthage and saw the jail where the Prophet Joseph Smith and his brother were shot and killed at. Afterwards, we traveled to Des Moines were we are staying with Savannah's sister for a couple of days. Then we will travel onward to Utah.
It has been a very exciting trip driving with Savannah....you see we have been listening to this book on CD that her mom sent us and Savannah is very into it. While driving, Savannah pays more attention to the CD than the road and I have to make sure that we don't get into any wrecks!
We are doing well and hope that everyone is having lots of fun too!

Hi, long-somewhat-lost-second-cousin Sara here. Just letting you guys know, if you need a place to spend the night on the way back, (or ever...until next October) we're just two hours north of Nauvoo (Davenport, IA) and we have a big comfy kind bed in the basement! Glad your trip was good! We're about to make the 24-hour drive to Pima with a 1 and 2 year old in a few weeks... ick.
