New York, Pennsylvania, and Ohio

Those were all states we drove through on Sunday! We stayed with my sister again on Saturday night, and played hooky from church on Sunday, opting to stay home and clean my sisters place. Yeah yeah, I know, I'm a sinner. Whatever. We packed our things and headed to Kirtland around 3:30 pm, and we made really good time. We got to our hotel at 7 pm, and just relaxed for a while. We went to Arby's for dinner, and dang it was good! We haven't been in a year, since last summer in AZ, and we definately missed it! I've had a cold this trip, and Aaron went to the gas station to get me cold medicine, but he didn't know what kind to get me, so he came home with all of them!
Today we did the Kirtland experience. We started out at the visitors center and toured the N.K. Whitney store, the ashery, the Inn, etc. for a couple of hours.
After that, we went to the Isaac Morely farm, for about 10 minutes, there isn't a lot to see there! The Kirtland Temple was next on our list, so we headed over and took a tour with a very talkative couple from Georgia. We weren't allowed to take pics of the inside of the building, or the museum, so the pics I took outside will have to suffice.

There was a cemetary next to the temple, and Aaron has a strange fascination with them, so we went over to the gate. It was locked, but Aaron got it open, and here he is looking around to see if we got caught!
The gate on the opposite end was open, so we weren't trespassing, I promise! The 20th president of the U.S., Mr. Garfield, lived in Mentor, which is in the area, so we went to his old house that they have turned into a monument. We missed the last tour of the house, but got to walk around the grounds and see some of the artifacts in the barn. Again, no pictures were allowed, (lame, I know) sorry. By this time we were starving, since we skipped lunch. Dingo (our gps) sent us to a mexican restaurant that didn't exist any longer, but on the way we passed this fabulous local place called "Panini's bar and grill". They had ultra tasty food! After dinner we went to the Boulvard of 500 Flags. It was pretty impressive! On each of the flag poles was a name, and what war the person served in. Apparently it's a favorite for the local wildlife too!
Here are a couple of the shots that I got that I really like.

On our way back to the hotel we saw this great local place for ice cream and stopped in for a really yummy parfait!

Tomorrow we head to Nauvoo, it's a 12 hour trip from here, so we're headed to bed so we can be on the road early!
