Nauvoo

Finally, we reached Nauvoo!  Our hotel room was in the Hotel Nauvoo and decorated from the 1850's!

This was our room.  It was very lovely.

While in Nauvoo, we were able to do a temple session together.  We were also able to be the witness couple for the temple session as well.  On our way out, we got to see the Baptismal font and learned that it was the largest out of all the Temples built!

We watched a production that was put on by the senior missionaries Tuesday night in Nauvoo. It was really cute. One of the lines went something like this "We are moving out West" and the other person said "its a desert, God's doing a great job of keeping trespassers out"....it was very funny.  As part of the site seeing, we went to a lot of the different historic sites and also viewed the Historic Joseph Smith sites that are maintained by the Community of Christ Church. The tour guide was very nice and knowledgeable. In the Mansion house, we were able to see one of the hiding spots of Joseph! Of course, no pictures were allowed.

At the end of the tour, we were at the Smith Family Gravesite.

As we were leaving the gravesites, we met a man who was studying the deaths of Joseph and Hyrum and was going to do a presentation within the next few days at a nearby symposium. We talked for over 40 minutes and he showed us some interesting photographs of when Joseph and Hyrum were re-buried during the late 1920's.  We really enjoyed our time in Nauvoo and were sad to leave, but we had to continue on with our travels!
