Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving to all!  I am so grateful for all that I have.  My dear wife who puts up with me, a wonderful job that keeps me employed and all our family and friends.

This last week was very busy getting ready for our week long adventures.  As you know from last week's post, we stayed in West Des Moines until Tuesday and then rushed to get to the airport to make our flight.  It is still flipping cold.  We parked at the long term parking lot and waited in the heated bus shelter.  We didn't have any issues with security or making our flight.  When we arrived in Phoenix, the weather was about 75....so quite the temperature change.  Since it was so cold I had brought a jacket, but didn't use it the entire trip.  After we got our luggage and awesome rental car, we drove to my parent's house.  What kind of rental car did we get?  Oh, a camero!  Savannah is such the sweet talker!  We had booked an economy car, but when we got at the car rental desk asked if they had any upgrades.  They did!  We took it.

We had Thanksgiving dinner at my parents.  My mom decided she wanted to have a new tradition, so we all participated in the Gilbert Turkey Trot.  Later, all of us cooks were busy in the kitchen.  Dinner was at 5:00pm so we had plenty of time to get our masterpieces done.  It was so much fun to see family and catch up with everyone.  Oh yeah, the food was awesome as well!

On Friday morning, we drove to spend time with the Maughans.  We are grateful that we could see everyone and had lots of fun.  We even learned that Savannah is a darn good shot with a 12 gauge shotgun!  After spending all day, we drove to Las Vegas to spend time with Savannah's family.  We took some of the nieces and nephews to an Family Fun Center that had arcade games, laser tag, and miniature golf.

Then we had a dinner with her side of the family.  It sure was nice to see everyone.

On Sunday, we found the nearest ward to attend and it surely was interesting.  Since it was the first Sunday of the month, it was a fast and testimony meeting.  This ward has a tradition of doing a musical fast and testimony meeting.  The meeting ended up going way over and was very interesting.  I'm only going to say nice things....so we left shortly after that.

Monday, we had breakfast with one of Savannah's sisters and then headed back to Phoenix.  The camero was a very nice car and just as Savannah hit this number on the speedometer, the following song came on the radio.

We would like to thank everyone for their hospitality and hope to see you all soon!
